BankWest takes flight

BankWest takes flight

(17 March 2008 – Australia) BankWest has announced that BankWest ATMs will be installed in more than 100 Flight Centre shops across Australia. The ATMs will be installed in front windows and walls of outlets of Flight Centre Limited shops including Flight Centre, Escape Travel and Student Flights.

The agreement brings the total number of BankWest ATMs to more than 700 across Australia.

BankWest chief executive – retail, Ian Corfield said that while BankWest has a strong network in Western Australia, he believes they need to significantly grow their east coast network in the next three to four years alongside their retail store expansion.

He added that it solves two current problems for the bank. Firstly, the challenge to secure ATM locations in a mature market as well as providing branded transaction capability and representation in rural areas, South Australia and the Northern Territory.

Rollout of the ATMs will commence in the third quarter of 2008.
