Citi rolls out biometric authentication for Asia institutional clients

Citi rolls out biometric authentication for Asia institutional clients

(23 April 2019 – Asia) Citi has launched biometric authentication for institutional clients in China, India, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, eliminating the need for an app-based digital token.

The Banks’ institutional clients can now access the CitiDirectBE mobile app via fingerprint or facial recognition.

The biometric solution enables authentication within seconds and serves as an additional alternative for secure account access. Prior to the solution's roll-out, clients would have to use an app-based digital token called MobilePASS or physical tokens to generate dynamic passcodes before accessing their accounts.

“The CitiDirect BE® Mobile App, coupled with biometric authentication capability, now enables clients to manage their institutional banking needs anytime and anywhere,” Keng-Mun Lee, Asia Pacific head of channel and enterprise services, treasury and trade solutions said in a statement.

CitiDirectBE provides institutional clients access to the bank’s global cash, trade, liquidity and investment services. Through the app, clients can authorise payments, view balances and cash positions and manage users.
