Ex-Deutsche IT Head Joins CBA

(26 June 2018 - Australia) London based group CIO for Deutsche Bank, Pascal Boillat, has been hired as CBA’s new head of technology to replace David Whiteing who recently left the group.

With over 30 years’ experience Pascal Boillat is leaving the position as Head of IT at the corporate and investment banking division of Deutsche Bank after more than one year in the role following operations roles with Citigroup and Fannie Mae.

Deutsche Bank recently appointed Frank Kuhnke as COO and Christian Sewing as CEO as the German lender’s management shake-up continues. The bank is reacting to news the US Federal Reserve rejected plans to transfer money from its US subsidiary back to Frankfurt on the grounds that the bank had widespread and critical deficiencies in its capital controls and other “qualitative weaknesses” after failing the latest round of US bank stress tests

Mr Boillat is set to commence with CBA in October 2018 as Group Executive Enterprise Services and CIO, with responsibility for all technology and operations across the Bank. Pascal will be responsible for delivering CBA’s future technology and operations strategy, including data management, enabling innovation, strengthening risk controls and simplifying our business. Other appointments include Andrew Hinchliff as IB and Markets group executive and Angus Sullivan as Retail Banking group executive.

“This team will be critical to continuing the changes and improvements we need to make to earn the trust of our customers and the community and build a better bank for the future,” stated CBA CEO Matt Comyn.

“The new team members bring a strong mix of deep experience in banking, risk management, digital transformation and cultural change leadership.
