Local communities boosted by NAB customer support

(24 January 2013 – Australia) National Australia Bank (NAB) announced on Wednesday that its branches will now take donations for the Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery appeal to help people affected by bushfires across Australia. Donations can be made online or in branches throughout Australia.

Since 10 January, NAB customers and staff had already contributed A$25,000 to the Tasmanian Appeal and earlier this month the bank donated A$100,000 to the Red Cross Tasmanian Bushfires 2013 Appeal and is now taking donations on behalf of communities right across Australia.

NAB's executive general manager Retail, Vicki Carter said that NAB believed it was important to provide support to local communities who have been affected and assist with the recovery effort.

'Our thoughts are with the people and communities that have had to deal with these horrendous conditions, particularly those who are still under threat,' she said.

'NAB has staff and customers in many of the fire affected communities and we are taking donations for the Red Cross to assist with the recovery effort.'

People in Tasmania have been particularly hard hit this summer with New South Wales, Victoria, Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory also suffering multiple blazes.
