Morgan Stanley Asia boss retires

(21 January 2008 – Asia) Investment bank Morgan Stanley has announced its chief executive for Asia, Hans Schuettler, is retiring and heading back to Germany. Schuettler has been in the role for less than two years.

Stephen Roach will replace the 52 year old German on a temporary basis.

Morgan Stanley is tipped to sell its stake in investment bank China International Capital Corp (CICC), which Schuettler has been overseeing.

During his tenure, Morgan Stanley exited its India joint venture to operate on a standalone basis in that country.
