NatWest to pilot biometric payment card

NatWest to pilot biometric payment card

(11 March 2019 – United Kingdom) NatWest is piloting biometric card technology that would allow customers to verify point-of-sale transactions with their fingerprints.

The UK bank is working with Gemalto, Visa and Mastercard on the upcoming small-scale trial.

Instead of entering a PIN for transactions over the £30 contactless limit, customers will hold a finger over the in-card reader as they tap their card.
