Peter Costello goes commercial

(5 November 2009 – Australia) Former Federal Treasurer, Peter Costello, having retired from politics three weeks ago, is now set to become an equity partner in the firm, BKK Partners. In Mr Costello’s new role, he will be advising corporates on mergers and acquisitions and capital raising, however, he has said that he will not be doing any lobbying or government relations in his new role.

In addition to his new role at BKK Partners, Mr Costello has also been appointed to the board of guardians of the commonwealth’s Future Fund, a part time role, and he will also continue to serve on the independent advisory board of the World Bank.

Mr Costello noted that BKK Partners is not a lobbying firm; it is an investment and corporate advisory firm and I will be advising Australian corporates, not the lobbying government.

Mr Costello said that, it's entrepreneurial, and the opportunity to join and grow a business is something that he looks forward to very much.

Mr Costello has also said that he will continue to write a regular newspaper column and will engage in public discussion it is warranted.

However, having retired from parliament, he noted that he would not be continuing to engage in parliamentary politics.
