Poor result for ANZ in NZ consumer survey

Poor result for ANZ in NZ consumer survey

(New Zealand) - ANZ has been rated New Zealand's most unpopular bank for the second year in succession by a survey in "Consumer" magazine. Only 52 percent of ANZ customers rated the bank's performance as good or very good, while the Bank of New Zealand and Westpac rated 65 percent and 66 percent respectively.

Around 12,000 people responded to the survey, and 17 percent said they had been in disagreement with their bank over fees and interest charges.

Perceived dissatisfaction with retail service, combined with the fact that all of NZ's major banks are foreign owned, led to the creation of the no-frills Kiwibank earlier this year. Kiwibank is an initiative of NZ Post.
