St George opens in fastest growing regional city

(19 September 2007 – Australia) St George has opened a Commercial and Retail branch in the regional city of Mandurah, in the WA Peel region. Pieter Bergshoeff, senior manager, Mandurah Branch, said that the city is the fastest growing regional city in Australia with a five year average growth rate of six percent. He added that Mandurah had experienced considerable growth and increased business investment.

Mr Bergshoeff describes Mandurah as the link for the South West of WA and he forecasts expansion of the city through a growth in infrastructure as well as government and private investment.

The new branch will offer services including specialist advice for Property Finance, Equipment Finance, Automotive Leasing, Treasury Services, Trade Finance, Transactional Banking and Invoice Discounting.

St George reported in July 2007 that it planned to open five new branches in WA. This Mandurah branch is part of that expansion. In July, the bank’s general manager for WA Martin Barrett said St George’s geographical expansion into WA positioned it as an alternative to the major banks.
