Suncorp gets a new CEO

Suncorp gets a new CEO

(10 September 2019 – Australia) Non-big-four Australian bank Suncorp has named Steve Johnston as its new CEO, replacing Michael Cameron.

Mr Johnston has been acting CEO since May, following the resignation of Mr Cameron after four years in the role.

Suncorp chairman Christine McLoughlin said the board’s decision to appoint Mr Johnston followed a “competitive and robust recruitment process”.

“Steve was the outstanding candidate. He has a clear vision for Suncorp’s future, a deep understanding of Australia and New Zealand’s financial services industry and the organisation, as well as high regard and confidence from his colleagues,” she said.

Mr Johnston, who has been with Suncorp since 2006 and previously served as the bank’s CFO, will take on his new role immediately.
