Three new hires at SocGen in Europe, US

(16 March 2017 – Europe) Société Générale global transaction banking unit has appointed three new heads to its payments and cash management teams in Germany, Switzerland and the US.

Gabriele Schnell is new head of payments and cash management in Germany, based in Frankfurt. She joins from a similar role at HSBC in the Netherlands. She has also held roles with RBS/ABN Amro and chemical company BASF.

Schnell replaces Bart de Boer, who has been named head of corporate cash management in Switzerland, based in Zürich. He joined Société Générale in 2002, first as head of its corporate cash management team in the Netherlands. De Boer has previously worked for other high-street lenders including Barclays and Lloyds.

Lastly, Jess Villarina has been appointed head of payments and cash management in the US, based in New York. Villarina has more than 20 years of treasury and international cash management experience, including his latest role at Barclays, where he was director of global cash management. His other tenures include:  Bankers Trust Company, Bank of America, ABN Amro, JP Morgan and HSBC.

All three hires report globally to the international payment and cash management unit, lead by Aurélien Viry, who said: “These appointments will play an important role in developing our payments and cash management banking activities internationally in line with our clients’ needs to optimise cash flow and commercial and financial transactions.”
