UBS hires BoE adviser for sustainable finance role

(23 August 2019 – United Kingdom) UBS has appointed Huw van Steenis, a senior adviser to Bank of England governor Mark Carney, to run investor relations and chair a new sustainable finance committee.

Mr van Steenis will start at Switzerland’s largest bank on September 2 and will report directly to Sergio Ermotti, the bank’s chief executive, and chief financial officer Kirt Gardner.

“UBS is further sharpening its focus on sustainable finance, recognizing increasing client demand and the leading position it already has in the field,” Mr Ermotti said in a statement.

Mr van Steenis comes to UBS after serving as global head of strategy at Schroders and head of banking research at Morgan Stanley
