Visa rolls out pre pay vouchers
(26 November 2007 – Australia) Visa is partnering with SCX Global to launch a virtual pre-paid voucher in Australia.
The voucher will enable customers to make online and telephone purchases without actually needing a plastic card or bank account.
Instead users can pay a chosen amount for the purchasing value of the card, and also a set-up fee, at retail outlets participating in the scheme or online.
Visa Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific executive vice president Bruce Mansfield said prepaid cards were a new product platform in Australia that complemented debit and credit cards and enabled consumers to pre-pay an amount for later spending.
He said prepaid products were a popular way of customers maintaining financial control, and keeping track of spending.
