Santander Announces New UK & Middle East Trade Head

(31 January 2023 – EMEA) Santander has announced John Luu as the bank’s new Head of Trade, Export Finance and Working Capital Solutions for the United Kingdom (UK) and Middle East.

In his new role Luu will report to Dean Grech, Santander’s Europe head of trade, export finance and working capital solutions and based in the UK as a member of the Santander UK senior leadership team.

Luu joins from inventory and supply chain specialist group Benteler, where he had served as senior vice-president of origination since April 2021. Prior to this, he spent six years at Greensill, most recently as head of natural resources and head of Saudi Arabia. His previous experience also includes senior supply chain finance roles with Citi and at JPMorgan.

Banco Santander recently announced the appointment of Ángel Rivera as CEO of Santander Spain, replacing António Simões who will continue as regional head for Europe as a member of the group’s management committee, reporting to the Group CEO and overseeing the businesses in the region. The board of directors of Banco Santander also approved the appointment of Mahesh Aditya as new Group CRO.
