ABN Amro sticking with bank of Asia

(Thailand) - Thailand's Bank of Asia has confirmed that its majority shareholder, ABN Amro NV, is retaining its stake in the Bank, despite rumours to the contrary. GE Capital, a unit of General Electric, has been reportedly interested in the Thai bank and had been eyeing ABN Amro's 77.6 percent stake in Bank of Asia taken in 1998 for US$171.2 million.
