Auld Alliance sees new jobs created

(4 June 2007 – UK) The Auld Alliance between Scotland and France is alive and well with French banking group BNP Paribas announcing it will create 370 new jobs at its Glasgow and Dundee operations over the next five years. Scotland's governing body, the Scottish Executive, is set to give BNP Paribas Securities Services a £3.7 million assistance grant to expand its operations. The French bank currently employs 125 staff in Scotland.

BNP Paribas Securities Services UK boss Tony Solway said the bank had a long relationship with asset managers in Scotland.

"This grant will enable us to support this growth in our operations centres in Glasgow and Dundee, accessing the local markets which are rich in talent,' he said.

The new staff will provide securities services, such as investment management services, to fund managers and institutional investors.
