Suncorp to overhaul and expand

Suncorp to overhaul and expand

(19 October 2007 – Australia) Suncorp has announced plans to overhaul system processes and expand its branch network in Queensland to target the state’s faster growing regions. The overhaul will include a technology upgrade, which may result in outsourcing back office processes which are currently being performed manually.

These will be taken over by Australian financial services vendor Perpetual and Indian-based processing group Infosys.

Suncorp has indicated that the arrangement would result in 250 job losses but would be counteracted by the creation of 270 new customer facing positions in the next few years as part of a branch expansion.

John Mulcahy, Suncorp chief executive, said the bank was not moving towards Indian call centres and the outsourced roles had nothing to do with customer service.

He also said that the restructure was aimed at rolling out more branches, with 40 in Queensland initially and further branches in Western Australia.
