Citigroup inks ATM deal with US 7-Eleven

(5 April 2006 – USA) Citigroup has inked a deal with 7-Eleven in the US to install more than 5,500 ATMs in stores across the country. The deal will push the overall size of Citigroups’ ATM network in the US to more than 8,000. Citigroup plans to open 100 branches in the US over the next 12 months in a bid to boost its faltering retail banking business.

The move follows Sovereign Bancorp’s arrangement to install ATMs in a US pharmacy chain. Bank of America is also in talks with a shopping mall company to roll out more than 350 ATMs.

In Australia, ANZ announced last week it would be installing 700 ATMs in Woolworths owned stores. The ATMs will be co-branded Woolworths Financial Services and ANZ.

BankWest began rolling out a fleet of 350 branded ATMs in Australian 7-Eleven stores earlier this year.
