NAB logo gets makeover

(14 February 2006 – Australia) National Australia Bank has taken the wraps off its new logo. The bank said the new logo, which has a modernised red star on a black background with lower case ‘nab’ instead of ‘National’, was symbolic of its attempts to “support the needs and aspirations” of NAB customers.

“Referring to ourselves as NAB, rather than ‘the National’ is simply in line with the ways customers have always referred to us,” NAB executive general manager Strategy and Marketing Greg Sutherland said.

“The updated visual identity places greater emphasis on the star, and the use of lower case ‘nab’ in the logo is designed to support the contemporary development of our business,” he said.

Sutherland said the bank was attempting to be less institutional and more relevant for its customers.

NAB director and CEO, Australia, Ahmed Fahour, said the change in the bank’s visual identity would not be “revolutionary” but phased.

Changes to branch signage would be in line with the bank’s current refurbishment program, he said.
