NAB launches A$300 million IT project

(Australia) – The National Australia Bank has launched the first phase of its long-awaited A$300 million integrated systems implementation (ISI) – a project reportedly plagued by cost and time over-runs and a messy dispute with consultants Deloitte which ended in the courts. The project will implement SAP enterprise software to provide a common infrastructure platform for NAB’s human resources, e-procurement, finance and management information systems throughout the world.

The bank recently announced A$88 million in technology writedowns for the year to September 30, including a post-tax charge of A$38 million to cover changes for the ISI project.

The NAB was in dispute with consultants Deloitte on the project, and cancelled the company’s contract. This led to a court claim for A$38 million in unpaid fees which was settled out of court in September.
