(26 May 2025 – Singapore) Citigroup has appointed Prashant Thakker as Head of its Corporate Bank for South and Southeast Asia, effective immediately, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters.
Thakker will lead Citi’s Corporate Banking strategy, financial performance, and talent development across key markets including India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
The memo states that Thakker will oversee local corporates, financial institutions, public sector clients, and global network banking activities. A Citi spokesperson confirmed the memo’s contents.
Thakker joined Citi in 2007 in India and moved to Hong Kong in 2013. He currently leads Capital Management for Japan, Asia North, Australia, and Asia South, and will relocate to Singapore for the new role.
He will report to Global Co-Heads of Corporate Banking Jason Rekate and John Chirico, as well as Amol Gupte, Head of Asia South Cluster.
