– 41 percent feel optimistic about the economic outlook

Treasurers are drowning in admin, meetings and management duties and it’s costing businesses much more than simply lost time. The inaugural East & Partners & T3i Partner Network Treasurer’s Happiness Index uncovers what 741 treasurers really think about their banks, their teams, economic outlook and capability with fascinating results revealed. Banks must stop selling products and start solving problems. Happy treasurers drive healthier balance sheets with most crying out for more time to think, not just react.

“Most of their day revolves around admin and internal meetings. The more time you spend chasing forms rather than chasing vision, the less fulfilled you’ll likely feel” commented East & Partners Global Head of Client Services & Relationships, Sian Kingdon.

“On average, treasurers spend over a quarter of their day in internal meetings, doing admin and managing their teams. It takes away time from their core liquidity management responsibilities. Give treasures room to think, not just react. As CFOs get pulled away from the treasury team, empowering treasurers and helping them to free up their time means you don’t just get a better treasury function, ultimately you get better business ” East & Partners Global Head of Client Relationships Sian Kingdon commented in the Treasury Now Podcast.

“How happy are treasurers with the economy, global trade, their team, their company culture? Treasurers play a critical role in an organisation. They are responsible for a company’s health. Over the past decade, the treasurer’s role has become much more strategic. Understanding how happy treasurers are with their role in the company, the team, the tool’s at their disposal, and how they feeling about the economic outlook gives us really good insights into the health of companies and the economic outlook ahead” stated T3i Partner Network Co-Founder, Michael Vrontamitis.

“Not just a valuable benchmarking tool, the analysis highlights significant variance in what it means to be a leader, market sentiment, managing diverse team dynamics and evolving demands placed on the treasury function” commented East & Partners Global Head of Markets Analysis, Martin Smith.

The opportunity for Banks? Smarter engagement equates to deeper and more valuable relationships with treasurers at a time of increasing decision-making and strategic planning responsibility pushing them well beyond their traditional core liquidity management focus.
