BNP Paribas Unveils AI Portal to Transform Dealmaking Efficiency

(12 December 2025 – Global) BNP Paribas has launched an AI-powered portal designed to help its dealmakers instantly tap into the bank’s vast archive of previous pitch materials, cutting down preparation time and elevating the quality of client discussions.

The new internal platform, IB Portal, acts as an “AI-powered search engine” that scans historic pitch decks, analyses, and slides to surface content relevant to upcoming mandates, said George Holst, head of the corporate clients group, in an interview with Financial News. “It identifies slides, analysis and such, and is very important for avoiding duplicating work and also prompts bankers to look for different angles,” Holst noted.

The move reflects a wider industry trend: investment banks are increasingly deploying AI to eliminate labour-intensive tasks traditionally handled by junior bankers, such as building pitch decks and conducting early-stage deal analysis. JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, and UBS have all rolled out proprietary tools, while banks like Nomura and Moelis have partnered with external platforms such as Rogo.

Holst said BNP Paribas’ use of “smart prompts” can reduce research time by days, allowing bankers to shift their focus from manual data gathering to higher-value strategic thinking. “Being able to leverage all the public and private data available… can reduce the time spent by days, and use this freed-up time to bring more value to our clients,” he added.
