Revolut Granted Conditional Approval for US Bank Charter

(7 September 2026 – United States) The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has granted Revolut conditional approval for a US national bank charter.

The launch of the proposed US bank builds on Revolut’s expanding footprint across the Americas, as the company has been rapidly securing banking licenses and launching operations throughout Latin America following a protracted four year process to gain a UK bank licence.

Revolut recently launched its Mexican Bank and has been advancing regulatory efforts in Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Argentina, laying the groundwork for a fully connected financial network across the hemisphere.

“Eleven years ago, we started with a card and an app that helped people save money on FX. Since then, every product we’ve built and every market we’ve entered has reinforced the same belief: money doesn’t stop at borders, and banking shouldn’t either. And you can’t build a truly global bank without becoming a full-service bank in the United States” said Revolut Founder and CEO, Nik Storonsky

“This isn’t the finish line. There’s still work ahead with the OCC, FDIC and Federal Reserve. But today is a major step forward – and the result of years spent building the technology, infrastructure and controls required of a global bank. The goal is simple: to serve Americans fully and directly, with the complete Revolut experience.”

“We’re grateful for the OCC’s open and transparent dialogue throughout this process. They were both diligent and expedient with our application, allowing us to remain on track for a 2027 launch of our proposed national bank” commented Revolut US CEO Cetin Duransoy.
