Standard Chartered Appoints Robert Cammilleri to Lead North American Fund Finance Business

(29 October 2026 – United States) Standard Chartered has appointed Robert Cammilleri as Managing Director of Fund Finance, North America, as the international banking group seeks to expand its private markets financing capabilities and strengthen relationships with institutional clients across the region.

Based in New York, Cammilleri will oversee the bank’s North American fund finance operations, reporting directly to Vicky Du, Global Head of Fund Finance.

He brings more than 25 years of financial services experience spanning fund finance, structured finance, institutional banking and private markets, with an extensive track record in developing financing solutions for investment managers and financial sponsors.

Cammilleri joins Standard Chartered from Barings, where he served as Managing Director and Global Head of Fund and Asset-Level Financings, overseeing financing arrangements involving investment funds and underlying portfolio assets.

Previously, he was Executive Director and Head of Institutional Coverage for North America at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, where he managed relationships with institutional financial clients.

Earlier in his career, Cammilleri held several senior positions at National Australia Bank, including leading its sponsor coverage and fund finance business in New York. He also gained structured finance and credit analysis experience at Fitch Ratings.

Du said Cammilleri’s appointment would enhance Standard Chartered’s ability to support the evolving financing requirements of its North American clients.

“Robert brings deep industry expertise, strong client relationships and a proven track record of building businesses across the fund finance ecosystem,” Du said.

“His appointment strengthens our ability to support clients across North America and reinforces our commitment to growing our global Fund Finance franchise.”

In his new role, Cammilleri will focus on expanding Standard Chartered’s fund finance business, leveraging the bank’s international network to deliver financing solutions to asset managers, financial sponsors and institutional investors.

Fund finance has become an increasingly important component of private markets financing, providing investment funds with liquidity and capital management solutions through facilities supported by investor commitments or underlying fund assets.

Cammilleri said Standard Chartered’s global reach and established institutional relationships provided a strong foundation for further growth.

“The Bank’s international network and strong relationships with financial sponsors and asset managers provide a compelling platform to support clients’ evolving financing needs,” he said.

The appointment supports Standard Chartered’s broader Americas strategy, which focuses on serving financial institutions and selected corporate clients while facilitating cross-border trade, investment and capital flows.

Operating in the United States since 1902, Standard Chartered maintains nine locations across the Americas, connecting regional clients with its extensive banking network spanning Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East.

The bank operates in 55 markets globally and is listed on the London and Hong Kong stock exchanges.

Cammilleri’s appointment further strengthens Standard Chartered’s North American institutional banking capabilities as it seeks to capitalise on growing demand for specialised financing solutions across the private markets sector.
