Citi appoints new head of corporate banking for APAC

(14 April 2016 – Asia) Citigroup has announced that Gerald Keefe will be its Hong Kong-based head of corporate banking for the Asia-Pacific region, in the newly created role.

Keefe will take on responsibilities for Citigroup bankers in the region dealing with companies, financial institutions and public-sector entities, according to a statement from the bank. He currently heads Citigroup’s corporate banking division for Japan, a position he has held since 2014.

Keefe will report to Mark Slaughter, head of Asia-Pacific corporate and investment banking, and Michael Roberts, Citigroup’s global head of corporate banking. He joined Citigroup in 2006, became a managing director in 2009.

Further, Citigroup has appointed Agnes Liew as the region’s vice chairman of corporate banking.

Liew will act as a senior adviser on corporate banking, according to the media release. She has worked with the US based bank for 33 years, including various senior roles such as head of corporate banking for Singapore and risk manager for Taiwan and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, and her current role as corporate banking head for Asia Pacific.

Both will commence their new roles in the second quarter, the release said.
