Japan to introduce palm reading ATMs

(18 April 2012 – Japan) Ogaki Kyoritsu Bank, a regional bank in central Japan will become the country’s first, and second in the world after Ziraat Bank in Turkey, to roll out ATMs which identify users by their palm prints.The technology, developed by Fujitsu Ltd, will allow users to identify themselves simply by scanning their hands and entering their date of birth and a PIN.

The bank said it will install 12 palm-scanning ATMs in late September with more installations planned in the future.
