The contactless wave continues

(27 January 2010 – Europe) A polish bank is upgrading six million customers’ Visa debit cards to contactless chip and PIN, according to local reports.PKO Bank Polski will begin replacing customer cards in June, with the intention of completing the roll out by the end of 2011.

The Visa payWave technology will enable the bank’s customers to make payments under A$100 without entering a PIN or signing authority.

Contactless payment has been gaining increasing acceptance by consumers and retailers in environments where transaction times are crucial to the consumer experience and the retailer business, such as the transit space.
