BankWest open to business

(6 May 2008 – Australia) BankWest has opened up two new business-specific banking centres on the east coast of New South Wales. The openings come off the back of BankWest’s announcement of its roll-out of more than 160 major new retail and commercial banking centres.

The two new locations are BroadMedow, in Newcastle, and Port Macquarie.

BankWest’s head of Rural and Regional, Jamie Ritchie, said that both locations were major hubs in New South Wales with strong economic growth.

He said that these were reasons which influenced the banks decision to open up a business banking branch in each location.

He also added that the dedicated BankWest Business Banking Centres were a vote of confidence for the area’s economic development.

Newcastle Lord Mayor John Tate backed the move into Newcastle, saying that it is great to see BankWest bringing new competition into Newcastle and investing in the region.

He commented that BankWest sees the inherent opportunities delivered through the city’s high performing business sector and locals will win through better deals and services from the new competition.
