(5 June 2007 – Australia) BankWest has appointed Troy Reeve to the position of relationship manager in Katanning, Western Australia, a town in which the bank has been operating for 85 years.BankWest, when it was known as Rural and Industries Bank of Western Australia, opened a Katanning branch in 1922.

BankWest Rural and Regional state manager Jim Watson said Katanning was one of the major farming areas in Western Australia.

‘We’ve seen immense change in Katanning over the last 85 years, not just in terms of banking, but also in the way the town has grown to be a significant sheep farming region in rural Western Australia,’ he said.

‘Katanning is a very important region for BankWest and our time here gives us extraordinary depth in understanding the region and economic conditions.’

Reeve has worked at major regional centres from Broome to Esperance to Kalgoorlie and many other smaller towns for the bank.

Watson said BankWest remained committed to rural and regional Western Australia and had continuing growth plans in the region.

‘There is no doubt our aim remains clear, we want to provide the rural and regional sector with managers who understand their business and offer specialised service to the agriculture, business and commercial sectors.’
