Actuaries body appoints president

(10 January 2008 – Australia) The Institute of Actuaries of Australia (IAA) has appointed KPMG’s Greg Martin as its president.Martin has more than 25 years experience of advising financial institutions and is currently a director of KPMG’s Australian actuary practice.

He has a background in insurance, funds management and financial valuation and modelling, and was a member of the former Life Insurance Actuarial Standards Board.

Martin also advised groups such as the AASB on Australian and international accounting standards related to insurance.

In his first keynote address to IAA members as president, Martin said 2008 would see the Institute continue to position actuaries in the field of Enterprise Risk Management.

Trevor Thompson has been appointed as senior vice president of the Institute and Bozenna Hinton as vice president.
