(10 August 2026 – Singapore) Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI) has agreed to acquire UOB Asset Management (UOBAM) from Singapore-based UOB Group, in a deal that will lift AllianzGI’s Asia-Pacific assets under management to over $196.4bn (€170bn).
The acquisition expands AllianzGI’s footprint into Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam, while deepening its existing presence in Singapore, Taiwan, and Indonesia. UOBAM’s South-East Asian investment capabilities — including regional and single-country equity strategies and Sharia-compliant funds — will be integrated with AllianzGI’s global active investment platform. A long-term distribution agreement accompanying the deal also grants AllianzGI access to UOB’s retail client network of more than eight million customers across the region.
Tobias Pross, CEO of AllianzGI, said the acquisition would accelerate growth and broaden the firm’s investment and retirement offerings across Asia-Pacific. UOB Deputy Chairman and CEO Wee Ee Cheong added that the deal allows the bank to sharpen its focus on wealth advisory and distribution while maintaining continuity for clients and staff through the transition.
