(19 August 2026 – Hong Kong) Ant International has launched an upgraded version of its artificial intelligence (AI) foreign exchange (FX) model, signing on Citi, HSBC and Standard Chartered as major banks accelerate the adoption of specialised AI to manage liquidity risks.
The fintech giant released its Falcon Time-Series Transformer Model 2.0 partnering with six major banks including Citi, HSBC, Deutsche Bank, Standard Chartered and Barclays. The launch was announced amid an accelerating global race among financial institutions to embed AI into their core operations following the group launching a pilot with Citi last year using AI to help clients improve their currency risk management capability and reduce hedging FX costs.
“The model specialises in financial scenarios and has an edge over general-purpose large models, which have yet to achieve a universal breakthrough in the financial sector. Precise forecasting can slash foreign exchange hedging and allocation costs by over 60 percent” commented Ant International General Manager of Platform Technology, Kelvin Li.
