ANZ cuts markets division jobs

(29 March 2016 – Australia) According to reports, ANZ Bank will cut 12 jobs in its markets division, as part of restructuring plans layed out by new chief, Shayne Elliott.

This round of cuts will affect roles in Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the United Kingdom.

The announcement comes on top of 100 others announced earlier this month in what the bank calls its “emerging corporate” business.

“We've announced changes today in our markets division to simplify the business and reduce costs by better aligning our trading and sales functions,” a ANZ spokesman told reporters via an emailed statement.

ANZ’s recent downsizing is on the back of Australia’s largest bank, Commonwealth Bank of Australia saying it has shut its five-person project advisory team while Westpac has announced plans to cut 100 jobs within its institutional bank.
