ANZ launches Visa Debit card

(27 March 2006 – Australia) ANZ has launched a new Visa debit card product which will allow customers without credit cards to make purchases using their own savings where Visa is accepted.ANZ managing director of Consumer Finance Jenny Fagg said the new product, named ANZ Everyday Visa Debit, was part of the bank’s strategy to offer customers convenient and simple products.

“It’s a transaction account with added features, where the customer’s money is available anytime, anywhere, including purchases online, on the phone or overseas, wherever Visa is accepted,” she said.

“People who previously have been unable to shop online because they don’t have a credit card can now make purchases and payments with their own savings, with all the safety features of a Visa card,” Fagg said.

ANZ’s Everyday account will have a monthly account fee of A$6.

Last week ANZ announced it had inked a deal with Woolworths to roll out a ‘Woolworths’ and ANZ branded ATM network across the retailer’s outlets.
