Bank offers capture reward

(20 January 2010 –Global) The largest bank in Papua New Guinea has offered their own reward for the recapture of the country’s most wanted criminal.William Kapris, alleged to be the mastermind behind several high profile bank robberies, escaped from a jail near Port Moresby last week.

The police have offered a reward of $5,000 PGK (A$1975) to help the authorities recapture the criminal who targeted branches of The Bank South Pacific (BSB).

Ian Clyne, chief executive officer, BSB said that the bank is also offering an undisclosed ‘cash incentive’ for information on the criminal or on anyone else who may be planning a robbery.

The bank, which has had to reduce cash levels at the bank due to robberies has also boosted it security in the light of the escape.
