BoA accidentally repossesses house

(15 March 2010 – USA) The Bank of America is embarrassed over an incident where a Pittsburgh woman came home to find she had been the victim of an accidental foreclosure.Angela Iannelli returned home last October to find her house ransacked, doors padlocked and her pet parrot gone.

Ms Iannelli’s house had been repossessed by the Bank of America, even though her mortgage repayments were up to date.

Ms Iannelli has filed a civil law suit against the bank, noting in court documents that serious destruction was done to her home, including cutting various water lines and electric wiring, as well as damaging the plaintiff’s carpets and furnishings.

Michael Rosenzweig, Ms Iannelli’s lawyer, said that if any member of the public did what the Bank of America did to his client they would be in prison for 10 years.

Experts have said that accidental foreclosures are becoming more frequent as a major banks foreclosure rates rise.
