CBA to open agribusiness centre in Wagga

(5 December 2006 – Australia) Commonwealth Bank is setting up a new agribusiness customer contact centre in Wagga Wagga which will begin operating in the first half of 2007, creating 35 new jobs in the process.CBA general manager of Agribusiness Jon Sutton said the move was part of strategy to boost the number of agribusiness specialists throughout the country and putting business bankers back into branches.

‘We are investing heavily in ensuring our customers have access to a local agribusiness specialist in as many locations as possible. We’ve got the largest number of agribusiness customers of any bank, and we’re committed to serving them personally and locally,’ he said.

CBA said it chose Wagga Wagga as a contact centre location because of its proximity to primary producers.

‘We wanted to place this contact centre in a regional location, so that we could employ local staff who understand the unique challenges and opportunities our agribusiness customers face. Wagga Wagga will provide a high quality workforce, as well as excellent education and training facilities,’ Sutton said.
