Citi Appoints Cristina Mascanzoni to Lead Australia, NZ Technology Coverage

(29 July 2026 – Australia) Citi has appointed Cristina Mascanzoni as director and technology coverage lead for Australia and New Zealand.

Mascanzoni joins the bank’s capital markets and advisory team from Goldman Sachs, where she has advised clients across a broad range of sectors and transactions, including Zip’s equity raise and convertible bond restructure, Afterpay’s cross-border sale to Block and the recent strategic review of OFX.

According to Citi, her appointment reflects the bank’s continued investment in technology coverage and its ambition to build a market-leading technology franchise in Australia and New Zealand.

Mascanzoni will report to both Ben Connolly and Philippe Perzi, co-heads of capital markets and advisory.

In her new role, Mascanzoni will lead the bank’s technology coverage efforts and partner closely with sector, product and offshore teams to deliver a streamlined approach to technology clients and opportunities.

Citi considers technology as one of the most significant growth opportunities for its franchise.  As the sector continues to evolve and increasingly intersects with infrastructure, healthcare, financial institutions and sponsors, strengthening collaboration across coverage and product teams will be critical to delivering the full breadth of Citi’s capabilities, the bank says.

Mascanzoni’s appointment follows the hiring of five managing directors for Citi’s technology investment banking franchise in the United States last week. In recent months, the bank has led over US$40 billion of convertible bonds in the global technology sector and advised on the world’s largest and third largest IPO – SpaceX’s US$75 billion offering and SK Hynix’s US$26.5 billion share sale.

Other notable deals include working as exclusive financial adviser to Cognite on its US$3.1 billion sale to Schneider Electric and Capital Markets Advisor to Apollo, and as joint bookrunner and joint lead arranger on US$35 billion Broadcom AI XPV Platform.

The team is also supporting Blackstone on a potential IPO of a portfolio of Airtrunk assets on the Singapore Exchange and is sole lead manager on Gilmour Space’s pre-IPO funding.  This is in addition to advising Dhilmar on its US$3.9 billion acquisition of Anglo’s steelmaking coal portfolio and Steadfast on its response to a US$5 billion takeover proposal from a consortium consisting of Amwins Group, Dragoneer and KKR.
