Dahlsen retires from ANZ board

(3 February 2005 – Australia) ANZ board member John Dahlsen is retiring as a director after 20 years with the bank.Dahlsen, who joined the board in 1985, is required to retire in accordance with ANZ’s Constitution because he is now 70 years old.

ANZ chairman Charles Goode said Dahlsen had made a substantial contribution to the bank over an “unusually long period as director”.

“John’s contribution to ANZ has not only been over an extended period but has been of a very high quality reflecting his keen legal and analytical mind and considerable business knowledge and expertise,” Goode said.

He said Dahlsen had made a strong contribution to the bank’s personal banking business and the rollout of the Restoring Customer Faith program.

Another director, Dr Brian Scott, is also due to retire from the ANZ board this year.
