(19 October 2026 – Global) FIS and Anthropic have expanded their strategic partnership to deploy agentic AI into core banking operations, launching a Financial Crimes AI Agent designed to compress anti-money laundering investigations from hours to minutes.
The agent automatically assembles evidence packages across a bank’s core systems, evaluates activity against known typologies, and surfaces the highest-risk cases for investigator review — with all decisions remaining with the human investigator. Anthropic’s Applied AI team and forward-deployed engineers are embedded with FIS to co-develop the agent, with the intent of enabling FIS to independently build and scale additional purpose-built agents over time. Bank of Montreal and Amalgamated Bank are among the first institutions involved in development and testing, with broader availability for FIS clients planned for the second half of 2026.
FIS CEO Stephanie Ferris said: “Every bank in the world wants AI that acts, not just assists.” Anthropic head of financial services Jonathan Pelosi added that the collaboration aims to create an architecture that positions institutions to become “agent-first” banks.
