Former RBA governor joins ANZ board

(16 February 2007 – Australia) The former governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia Ian Macfarlane has been appointed to ANZ’s board of directors.Macfarlane spent 28 years at the RBA and was appointed governor in 1996. He was also the inaugural chairman of the Asian Consultative Council for the Bank of International Settlements.

He also sits on the board of Woolworths.

ANZ chairman Charles Goode said Macfarlane understood financial markets and had a long involvement with Asia.

“We are very pleased to have someone of Ian’s calibre and experience join the board,” he said.
