French CEO sacked

(1 December 2009 – Europe) A French bank has ditched its chief executive officer over an unspecified rule breach.BNP Paribas Securities Services has announced the dismissal of Jacques Philippe Marson; stating that the company became aware that Mr Marson had not abided by the French bank’s rules and as a result of his actions could no longer carry out his duties as the group’s chief executive officer.

Mr Marson, formerly a SWIFT executive, joined the bank in 1998 and helped the group achieve a top five custodial ranking during a period of massive consolidation in the industry.

While the bank refused to comment on the dismissal, it would however say that the neither the company nor any of its customers had suffered any financial loss as a result of the breach.

Mr Marson’s position as chief executive officer has been filled by Jacques d’Estais.

Mr d’Estais was the former head of corporate and investment banking at BNP Paribas Securities Services.
