(13 January 2025 – Global) – President Elect Donald Trump’s trade tariff threats are setting off severe concerns for global supply chain stability.

 

The threat of universal tariffs is compounding concerns that global supply chains will suffer more damaging bottlenecks, leading to sovereigns and corporates taking preventative measures.

 

“We have to look at this as the opening bid in what will likely ultimately turn into a negotiation with the US rather than just an imposition of tariffs, and everyone walks away” stated HSBC Chief Asia Economist Fred Neumann
