(13 June 2022 – Singapore) HSBC has appointed Sunil Veetil as head of sustainability for Commercial Banking Asia-Pacific (APAC).
Based in Singapore, Veetil will report to Amanda Murphy, who in December was appointed head of Commercial Banking for South and Southeast Asia, and Natalie Blyth, global head of CMB sustainability. The role is newly created and will allow the bank to help clients in their transition to net zero emissions.
“The pandemic has underscored the importance of resilience in global supply chains. Our clients’ first hurdle is to make sure their suppliers have enough liquidity, and we have multiple deals wherein we use historical-performance data to extend credit deeper into our clients’ supply chains” a spokesperson for the Bank stated.
“Once they have that greater reach and visibility into their supply chains, they begin to ask more complex questions, such as what sustainability in the supply chain actually means from a financing perspective, how to quantify and report it, and what the benefits are”.
