(8 July 2026 – United Kingdom) HSBC has appointed Nicholas Elias as head of wealth platforms, Wealth and Premier Solutions, effective 15 August 2026, with a mandate to further embed AI across the bank’s wealth business.
Elias will lead HSBC’s Wealth Transformation Programme, including the scaling of Wealth Intelligence – the bank’s generative AI platform delivering market insights and personalised investment strategies. He joins from an internal role as global head of customer relationship management within the Corporate and Institutional Banking COO function, having first joined HSBC in 2012 across frontline corporate banking, wholesale banking, and transformation roles.
The appointment is part of a broader period of leadership activity within HSBC’s wealth division. HSBC Private Bank recently named Edward Chiu as onshore Taiwan market head, effective 1 June, and Gautam Anand as head of Global India, effective 24 April. The bank has also launched HSBC Access, a new offering giving ultra-high net worth clients and family offices the ability to invest directly in select technology and start-up companies.
