HSBC opens branch in Terracotta Warrior country

(5 July 2006 – China) HSBC is set to notch up a quarter century of branches in China following regulatory approval to open a new branch in Xi’an.Xi’an is the capital of northwest China’s Shaanxi province and is famous as the city closest to the country’s famous Terracotta Warriors.

The new branch will open in the second half of 2006. HSBC has already been given permission to open a new branch in Hangzhou with the two branches taking the banking giant’s overall total to 25.

HSBC currently has branches in Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Dalian, Guangzhou, Qingdao, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Suzhou, Tianjin, Wuhan and Xiamen and sub-branches in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Tianjin, making 23 in total.
