HSBC signs up for data management system

(14 September 2005 – UK) HSBC has inked a deal with data management company GoldenSource for data technology that will be rolled out across the bank’s corporate, investment banking and markets (CIBM) division.GoldenSource, which has offices in New York, Boston and London, will implement a data management system to manage and consolidate reference data for securities, customers and counterparties along with transaction data.

The bank will also be able to access financial information from Reuters, Bloomberg and Switzerland’s Telekurs through the system.

HSBC will use the technology to build an enterprise data platform to drive CIMB’s electronic securities trading application before rolling the system out into other parts of the division.

The bank will then build an integrated application suite to deliver an “operational trading environment” based on centralised data repositories.
