Indian bank establishes in Australia

(3 October 2007 – India) India’s Bank of Baroda has established its first presence in Australia by opening a representative office in Sydney.The bank extends its global footprint to 22 countries across six continents through 645 offices. In the Asia Pacific, Baroda has had a presence in Fiji since 1961 and has planned a new office in New Zealand in the future.

The bank’s Australian representative office will provide business advisory services to Indian and Australian corporates for facilitating trade and investment between the two countries.

Dipankar Mookerjee, general manager, HR and Marketing, Bank of Baroda, said that the bank is aiming to create regional synergy, enabling it to serve its Asia Pacific customers better.

The bank will also cover Indians residing in Australia for their banking needs in India, as well as remittance to and from India and around the world.
