Kiwi central bank gets new perspective

(9th December 2003 – New Zealand) Reserve Bank of New Zealand has appointed Terry McFadgen as one of its two part-time external monetary policy advisors.The Reserve Bank appoints two part-time policy advisors each year to bring a fresh and external perspective to the central bank. The contract can be extended by one year but no longer.

McFadgen has a background in residential and commercial property and held a variety of senior executive posts with Fletcher Challenge Group until earlier this year.

He was also chief executive of Melbourne-based Jennings Group from 1990 to 1993 and is currently establishment director of the College of Law New Zealand. McFadgen replaces Kerrin Vautier. The other part-time policy advisor is Malcolm Bailey.
